Files access¶
This section documents how file access works for the various users with an account registered in Filesight and for users that have a valid quick share link.
Administrative users¶
Administrative users have access to files through the Files administration interface, which allows them to edit and browse files and folders. Please refer to the Administration section for more information about all the features available for administrators.
Viewer users¶
Users that are registered in Filesight as "Viewers" may access folders and files in a permanent fashion, according to their permission groups. These users, when created by an administrator, will receive an invitation link that allows them to set up a password and log in to Filesight. After login, the public files interface will be available for the user.
Quick share links¶
If any user (even an administrator or a viewer) accesses Filesight via a quick share link, the public files browsing interface, restricted to the folder shared in the link, will be available for the user.
Public files browsing interface¶
Filesight allows browsing files with an intuitive interface that lets users navigate visible folders and shows files contained in the current folder. By clicking each file, a specific dialog will be shown, with:
- the file preview, if available for the current file format
- file metadata (name, size and description if provided)
- a download button to save the file locally
